Scintillometer SLS
With a proprietary displaced-beam technique, the Surface Layer
Scintillometers deliver extensive turbulence information, including
the fluxes of heat and momentum. Using a patented method, the SLS
scintillometers are the only instruments providing both heat flux
and momentum flux by pure optical means. Other output quantities
include the Obukhov length, the structure parameter of refractive
index, the dissipation rate of kinetic energy and the crosswind
speed. With the SLS a transmitter emits two parallel laser beams.
The receiver is located 50 to 250 m apart from the transmitter.
